The Death Penalty

The death penalty gives the government the right to take the life of convicted murderers. The state of Illinois recently stopped executing prisoners on death row. Illinois found that some prisoners were innocent.

Some people say the death penalty is a fair punishment for people who commit terrible murders. Others believe the death penalty is wrong. They say innocent people might be killed. They believe the death penalty does not stop crime.
